On December 15, 2023, A.G. Richardson students embarked on an exciting STEM journey as the Culpeper County Public Schools (CCPS) bucket truck played a pivotal role in an engaging egg drop activity. This hands-on experience was inspired by the renowned literary work "Restart" by Gordan Korman, a tale that revolves around a child's transformative journey following a head injury.

Mrs. Birch's 4th Grade and Mr. Hallett's 5th Grade classes not only delved into the pages of "Restart" but also actively participated in a culminating STEM activity. The challenge involved constructing and modifying designs for an egg drop, testing them at various heights—6 ft, 10 ft, and 15 ft. The winning designs from each class progressed to the ultimate test: the bucket truck, reaching a soaring height of 45 ft!

In this thrilling competition, Mr. Hallett's class witnessed their winning design reaching an impressive 35 feet. before breaking. However, the spotlight was on Mrs. Birch's class, as their winning design triumphantly withstood the entire 45-foot drop. The attached images capture the excitement, creativity, and success of the event.

This unique STEM initiative not only brought literature to life but also fostered teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills among CCPS students. The event serves as a testament to the commitment of educators in providing innovative and immersive learning experiences for the students of A.G. Richardson.
