AGR 5th graders worked with math specialist Candy Standley yesterday- they hypothesized & experimented in a Floating Ghost STEM activity. Each ghost had a paperclip inside, and the challenge was to see if a magnet could make it float. When ghosts didn't float, students considered if the magnet was too strong, or if the placement of the paperclip or size of the ghost made a difference. Our young scientists quickly learned the importance of changing the independent variable in an experiment. Brayden Robertson got the first ghost in the air. Students had a great time learning important science ideas!!

Do you wonder what you can do with all the candy that will soon be pile in your houses? WAGR-TV students have been at work collecting data to coincide with National Candy Day, which is Monday, November 4th. We're calling this, "Teach-er Treat"! After Trick or Treating tomorrow evening, sort your candy, lay it out in a graph, and count all the pieces. (Be sure to take a pic of your candy graph and share with Mrs. Standley cstandley@ccpsweb.org or Mr. Ortman mortman@ccpsweb.org) Which candy did you get the most of or the least of? Did you get a lot of your favorites? Take a look at your teachers’ favorites in the attached documents. Choose a couple pieces to share with your teachers. Look at the data to see who likes the ones that aren’t your favorite and share those. Or, share a teacher’s favorite with him or her. Students can deliver the candy on Friday, November 1st or Monday, November 4th in celebration of National Candy Day!! (Candy can be sent in after those dates, though) #Reeses
